Startup prefs Availability
The Startup prefs menu is available inWindows 11,Windows 10, andWindows 8.
The equivalent startup options menu in previous versions of Windows is calledAdvanced Boot Options.
What Is the Startup configs Menu Used For?

Startup Settings (Windows 11).
The available options allow you to start Windows in some restricted fashion when it won’t start normally.
The most commonly accessed option available from the Startup configs menu is Safe Mode.

When you’re on the ASO menu, go toTroubleshoot>Advanced options>Startup controls.
Startup controls doesn’titselfdo anythingit’s just a menu.
Choosing one of the options will start that mode of Windows, or change that setting.
Youmusthave a keyboard attached to your gear or gadget to be able to select an option from the menu.
Enable Debugging
Enable debuggingturns on kernel debugging.
By default, that information is sent over COM1 at a baud rate of 15,200.
This is the same asDebugging Modethat was available in previous versions of Windows.
The “boot log” is stored asntbtlog.txtin whatever folder Windows is installed on, almost alwaysC:\Windows.
In some cases, like with older CRT style monitors, therefresh rateis also lowered.
Windows won’t start properly if the screen resolution is set out of the range supported by your screen.
Only display options are changed withEnable low-resolution video.
Your current display driver isn’t uninstalled or changed in any way.

Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
Disable driver signature enforcementallows non-signed drivers to be installed in Windows.
This startup option can be helpful during some advanced driver troubleshooting tasks.
With this option, you might block the feature from Startup options, without needing to enter Windows.
Launch Recovery Environment
ChooseLaunch recovery environmentto return to the Advanced Startup Options menu.
You’ll see a shortPlease waitscreen while ASO loads.
This is completely different from the startup options discussed above.
