Why on Earth isnt YouTube getting with the PiP program here?

After all, pretty much any other video source on iOS and iPadOS supports the built-in PiP feature.

The problem with this is that it doesnt use YouTubes own video player.

The Play App displayed on computer, laptop, tablet, and iPhone.

That means it doesnt have any control over the video playback.

It cant show an overlay of related videos when you pause playback, for example.

“This feature honestly feels like table stakes at this point.

Thats something that YouTube doesnt usually allow without some kind of paid subscription.

In short, by supporting PiP, YouTube has to use Apples built-in player, which removes control.

Apps that allow this come and go, but some solid options seem to keep working.

Another option is to view the videos on a non-YouTube page.Invidiousis an open-source front-end to YouTube.

Play has an option to open those links in Invidious in the Safari online window.
