Microsoft is a backer of OpenAI, the company that makes GPT-4.
But outside observers saythe recent paperisn’t as wild as it seems.

But the recent paper has raised eyebrows because it says GPT-4 has capabilities at or above human levels.
“The researchers claim that GPT-4 shows signs (sparks) of AGI.
“This is impressive and a major leap forward in AI.”

Even if AI is not yet human-level intelligence, that may not be reassuring.
But, he added, the work output of many humans is often middling.
