What Is an ASL File?
A file with the ASLfile extensionis an Adobe Photoshop style file.
There are even websites that host free ASL files that you might download.

Other ASL files could be auto splitter scripts used by LiveSplit, a timer program for video game speedrunners.
How to Open an ASL File
ASL files can be opened withAdobe Photoshop.
Do this by dragging it directly into Photoshop or through theEdit>Presets>Preset Managermenu.

Photoshop.
Once there, chooseStylesfrom the menu and thenLoadto import it.
If you don’t see the option to import it there, do it instead through the Style palette.
This method might be easier for most people anyway since it’s also how the style is applied.

Photopea.
Toggle this palette’s visibility viaWindow>Styles.
To import, use the small button at the top-right of that window to findImport Styles.
These can’t be imported directly into Photoshop.
Instead, extract the file from the archive using afile unzip program(we like7-Zipa lot).
The locking function can be toggled on and off in the Layers palette next to theOpacityandFilloptions.
The online image editorPhotopeacan use Photoshop styles, too.
Use theWindow>Stylemenu to toggle its visibility on the right side of the page.
Then, selectLoad .ASLfrom the down arrow menu to import the file.
LiveSplitASL files open with that program.
TheASL.dll fileis unrelated to either of the formats described on this page.
Right-click a layer and chooseBlending Options.
Make the style adjustments you want, choose theNew Stylebutton, and then name your style.
Other advanced graphics programs have similar style saving mechanisms, but we don’t believe they’re interchangeable.

ALS is another that’s used for audio projects in a program called Ableton Live.
