Every Echo Dot has either two or four buttons, depending on the generation.

The appearance of these buttons differs slightly depending on which version of the Echo Dot hardware you have.

The first-generation Echo Dot only had an action button and a microphone button.

You controlled volume by twisting the top of the gadget, just like the original Echo.

To use this button, press and release the button when youwant Alexa to stop listeningin.

The button turns red to indicate when the microphone is disabled.

The Echo Dot has two volume buttons.

One has a + symbol on it, and the other has a - sign.

Amazon’s Echo Buttonswere a Bluetooth Alexa gadget released in 2017.

However, Amazon discontinued them, and they are no longer available for purchase.

If you manage to find a discontinued Echo Button, pairing it with a Dot is easy.

After inserting batteries into the Button, tell Alexa, “Set up my Echo Button.”

Press and hold your Echo Button until it glows orange (about 10 seconds).
