Sometimes you get lucky, and the easiest solution ends up fixing the biggest of problems.
If restarting doesn’t do the trick, then you’ll want to move on to more complicated fixes.

Look for debris in the USB port.
Just be careful not to shove the obstruction further in.
Check for loose or broken internal connections.
One way to test this is to insert your USB unit and then gently wiggle the connection.
Try a different USB port.
Plug the USB rig into a few of the ports on both the front and back of your machine.
Swap to a different USB cable.
Plug your rig into a different computer.
If you have another computer or laptop handy, then try plugging your USB equipment into it.
This is an easy way to rule out a problem with the machine itself.
Try plugging in a different USB equipment.
If your other equipment works just fine, then youll know that your ports are in good working order.
In this case, you may need to fix or replace the unit that failed to connect.
Check the rig manager (Windows).
Scan for hardware changes by right-clicking the name of your rig, and then clicking onscan for hardware changes.
When the scan to complete and then check your USB rig to see if it works.
Another option is to disable and re-switch on the USB controller.
Right-opt for first USB controller in the list and selectUninstall unit.
Repeat for each USB controller you find.
Turn your machine off and then back on again.
Windows will automatically reinstall the USB controllers, so check to see if your machine works.
Reset the System Management Controller (Mac).
If you have a Mac,resetting the system management controller(SMC) may fix your problem.
These instructions do not apply if the Mac has the Apple T2 Security Chip.
Although less likely, there is a chance that updating your system could solve your USB port problems.
This process is different depending on whether yourechecking for and installing Windows updatesor updating macOS.

On macOS on High Sierra and earlier, pop fire up app store.
If any updates are available, click onupdateorupdate all.
power cycle your system and check to see if your USB gadget works.
