What Is the $Windows.~BT Folder?
The $Windows.~BT Folder is a hidden folder on the root drive where theWindowsOS is installed.

It also contains important log files that can help with troubleshooting why the upgrade may not have been successful.
You may be wondering why the $Windows~BT folder would be on Windows 7 or 8.
If you decided to downgrade back to Windows 7 or 8, the folder remained.

Should I Delete the $Windows.~BT Folder?
If this doesn’t matter to you, then you might proceed.
This means you might’t recover your rig to a fresh installation of Windows.

you could do this by making hidden files and folders visible.
Select theStart menu, search forFolder Optionsand selectFile Explorer Options.
In the File Folder Options window, select theViewtab.

SelectOKto save the changes.
Navigate to the drive where your Windows operating system is installed.
If your system has a restore backup you’ll see the $Windows.~BT folder here.

You’ll need to use theDisk Cleanup Toolthat’s included in Windows.
opt for Start menu, typeDisk Cleanup, and select theDisk Cleanup app.
