The Scuf Reflex is an expensive, premium controller.

Its also the best one Ive ever used.

Ive used a lot of premium controllers, and they all eventually fall apart.

The Scuf Reflex is robust and has yet to break or even show any damage.

I’ve dropped the Scuf Instinct many times, but there’s no apparent damage or performance issues.

Theres about 9 hours from one charge here which is far better than most provide.

In all cases, the buttons feel nice on your fingers and are gentle on everything you tap.

The back triggers are a little shallow, but this makes them easy to tap.

Despite the extensive and heavy use of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, thats never happened to me here.

Theres also the matter of battery life.

I plug it in to recharge every couple of weeks.

It seems about 40 hours is accurate, which is likely given how rarely I need to remember.

While you could go cheaper for standard controllers, you generally miss out on quality.

Thats where the Xbox Core Wireless Controller simply works and works well.

Theres a reason why it hasnt changed muchit doesnt really need to.

It has a regular D-Pad for more precise movements, while the right joystick covers more varied movements.

There are many colors, so you’re free to find something that works for you.

A quick pairing via Bluetooth means you might use it easily with your phone, PC, or Xbox.

One downside is that the Xbox Core Wireless Controller requires AA batteries rather than being rechargeable.

How We Tested

I reviewed every gaming controller featured here over many months and years.
