This might not be ideal, however.
The easy solution is to move your home folder to a different drive.
This article applies to devices running Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

That way, you might restore everything to how it was before you began this process, if necessary.
For most people, the path is /Macintosh HD/Users.
Select theHomefolder and drag it to its new destination on another drive.

You’ll delete the original home folder later after you have verified that everything is working.
Launch System Preferences by clicking theSystem Preferencesicon on theDockor selectingSystem Preferencesfrom the Apple menu.
This heading is calledAccountsin Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and earlier.

Click theLockicon and put in your administrator password.
Do not make any changes to Advanced Options except for those noted here.
In theAdvanced Optionssheet, clickChoose, located to the right of theHome directoryfield.

Navigateto the location you moved your home folder to, go for the new home folder, and clickOpen.
ClickOKto dismiss theAdvanced Optionssheet, and then closeSystem Preferences.
It should use the home folder in the new location.

One way to do this is by creating a test file in TextEdit andsaving itto your new Home folder.
Check to see if the file appears in the new location.
you’re free to also look at the old Home location.

If its icon is no longer a house, it isn’t the active Home folder anymore.
Try out a few applications use and your Mac for a few days.
If all is well, you could delete the original home folder.
