It’s created when a hard drive ispartitioned, but it’s not locatedwithina partition.
This means non-partitioned storage mediums, like floppy disks, don’t contain a master boot record.
The MBR is located on the firstsectorof a disk.

The specific address is Cylinder: 0, Head: 0, Sector: 1.
It’s commonly abbreviated asMBR.
What Does the Master Boot Record Do?
That particular partition’s boot sector is used to start theoperating system.
The master boot record might be damaged in a small way or even removed entirely.
These are likeregular antivirus tools, but work even when the operating system doesn’t.
MBR and GPT: What’s the Difference?
GPT is replacing MBR simply because it has fewer limitations.
Also, MBR only allows four primary partitions and requires anextendedpartition be built to hold other partitions calledlogicalpartitions.
Windows operating systems can have up to 128 partitions on a GPT drivewithoutthe need to build an extended partition.
Another way GPT outperforms MBR is how easy it is to recover from corruption.
MBR disks store the boot information in one place, which can easily be corrupted.
A GPT partitioned disk can even identify issues automatically because it periodically checks for errors.
GPT is supported throughUEFI, which is intended to be a replacement to BIOS.
After backing up or moving the data to a GPT disk, right-click eachpartitionand selectDelete PartitionorDelete Volume.
Then, right-hit the MBR disk you want to change to a GPT disk and selectConvert to GPT Disk.
An MBR drive can support up to four standard partitions.
These partitions are typically designated as primary partitions.
