This article provides instructions on verifying Time Machine backups with anetwork storage deviceor alocal storage drive.
Select theTime Machine iconon the Mac menu bar.

Hold down theOption key.
SelectVerify Backupsin the drop-down menu.
Verifying might take a while, depending on the size of your backup and your Mac’s speed.
