How to Join Threads
Assuming you already have anInstagramaccount, getting a Threads account is incredibly easy.
Download Threads to get started.
TapLog in with Instagram.

slide in your Instagram login details, and then tapLog in.
TapSaveif you want to store your login details so you might easily access again later.
Otherwise, chooseNot now.

SelectImport from Instagram>Continueto copy your photo, bio, and link from your Instagram account.
Your name and username are synced with Instagram.

Pick whether your profile should be public or private, and then tapContinue.
TapJoin Threadsto finish up and access your account.
Here’s how it works:
Tap thenew threadbutton from the menu.

It’s the center item that looks like a pencil and pad.
Optionally, tapAdd to threadto include more in your post.
SelectPostto create the thread.

The app’s options allow you to adjust options around mentions, muting users, and hiding offensive words.
From your profile page, opt for menu button at the top right, followed byPrivacy.
Below are various tweaks you should know, all accessible from that screen.

A private account limits this to only approved followers.
To switch your Threads account between the two, tapPrivate profile>OK.
The globe means it’s public, and the lock means it’s private.
These options define who can reply to your thread.
If your account is set to public, your posts can accept replies from anyone.
If your account is private, only your followers can reply.
Changing this is easy.
These options are a little different if your account is set to private.
Instead of having the ability for anyone to reply, only your followers can reply.
Otherwise, you’ll need to search for their username and add them manually.
The current version of Threads isn’t going anywhere.
However, it’s not the first app Instagram has made by that name.
Instagram retired it in December 2021.
