The instructions in this article apply to iPhones operating iOS 17 and higher.
If you’re operating iOS 16, live wallpapers on the Lock Screen aren’t available.
If you’re on iOS 15 or earlier and your unit supports wallpaper presets, navigate toWallpaper>DynamicorLive.

Choose the the+(Plus) sign orAdd New Wallpaper.
TapPhotosand search for or use theLive Photofilter to select an image.
Motion may not be available for all live photos in your Photos library.

Tap the crossed-outLive Photoicon in the bottom-left corner to reveal a Play symbol.
ChooseAddwhen you’re ready to back up your work.
Confirm how you’ll use the wallpaper by tappingSet as Wallpaper Pairto duplicate the image on your Home Screen.

To choose another image or apply different effects, tapCustomize Home Screen.
Lock your phone by pressing the on/off button on the top or right side, depending on your model.
Then tap and raise the phone and you’ll see the photo in motion automatically.

Open yourPhotosapp and chooseAlbums>Live Photos.
Tap aLive Phototo select it.
Select theShareicon at the bottom left of the photo and chooseUse as Wallpaper.
ChooseAdd>Set as Wallpaper PairorCustomize Home Screen.
Go to the Home or Lock screen to view the new wallpaper.
The Live Wallpaper will only animate on the Lock Screen.
Live and Dynamic Wallpapers both add movement to your iPhone’s Home and Lock screens.
While both of them deliver eye-catching animations, they’re slightly different ways tochange your iPhone wallpaper.
In iOS 17, animations play automatically.
No matter the iOS version, Live Wallpapers only work on the Lock screen.
They didn’t require the 3D Touch screen but were limited to the available options preloaded to the iPhone.

Live wallpapers won’t work if your iPhone is inLow Power Mode.
To turn it off, go toSettings>Battery>Low Power Mode.
