To enable offline access to your Google Drive on a PC runningWindows:

Open theGoogle Chrome online window.

You must make Google Chrome yourdefault browserto open your Google Drive files from your rig without an internet connection.

Download and install theGoogle Docs offline Chrome extensionin the Chrome Web Store.

Add the Google Docs Offline extension to Chrome in Chrome Web Store

access to yourGoogle accountif you’re not already signed in.

From yourMy Drivepage, selectSettings(gear icon) in the upper-right corner.

Once you’re back online, any changes will sync up, and the symbol will disappear.

Log in to your Google account if you’re not already signed in

Download and drop in the free personal version ofBackup and Syncfor Google Drive.

OpenBackup and Syncand sign in to your Google Account.

If you wish, you’re free to now save files on your box directly to Google Drive.

Check the box beside Sync Google Docs, Sheets, Slides & Drawings files to this computer

If you don’t want to do that, deselect the boxes beside each folder and selectNext.

opt for box besideSync My Driveto this computer, then selectStart.

Tap thethree vertical dotsnext to the name of the file you wish to edit offline.

Download and install Backup and Sync for Google Drive.

TapAvailable offlineon the menu that appears to enable offline editing.

Just tap thehamburgermenu in the top-left corner of the app window, thenSettings>Make recent files available offline.

Avoid editing Google Drive files offline from different devices to avoid losing progress due to syncing issues.

Open Backup and Sync and sign in to your Google Account.

To edit Google Drive files offline on macOS:

Download andinstall Chrome for Mac.

Click theAppleicon on your dock, then clickSystem Preferences.

ClickGeneralfrom the left pane.

You can choose to saves files on your computer directly to Google Drive

Using the Default web online window dropdown box, switch from Safari toGoogle Chrome.

Using the Chrome web app, download and install theGoogle Docs offline Chrome extension.

Sign in to your Google account.

Sync My Drive > Start

From yourMy Drivepage, selectSettings(gear icon) the upper-right corner.

Download the personal version ofBackup and Syncfor Google Drive.

Move Backup and Sync to yourApplicationsfolder, then open it.

Choose to save files on your machine directly to Google Drive if you wish and clickNext.
