This article explains how to uninstall Avast Antivirus on your box.
It has a special Self-Defense mode that prevents malicious software from removing it.
you better disable this mode before you might uninstall the program.
bring up the Avast user interface and clickMenuat the top of the user interface.
SelectSettingsfrom the drop-down menu that appears.
This opens a newSettingswindow.
SelectGeneralfrom the left navigation pane, and then selectTroubleshootingfrom the sub-menu.
Deselect the checkbox besideEnable Self-Defenseto turn Self-Defense mode off.
This opens a pop-up window asking you to confirm.
SelectOKto confirm the change.
Select theControl Panelapp to open it.
In the Control Panel window, selectPrograms and Features.
In thePrograms and Featureswindow, scroll down to the Avast Antivirus software and select it.
Then, selectUninstallto begin the uninstall process.
This will launch Avast’s configuration screen where there are several options available to modify the Avast installation.
The main options are Update, Repair, or Modify.
However, you’ll see theUninstallbutton at the bottom of this window.
Select it to launch the Avast uninstall process.
You’ll see a confirmation window asking you if you really want to uninstall Avast.
This will launch the Avast uninstallation process.
Select theRestart computerbutton to finish.
Restarting your rig will complete the uninstallation process.
Once this is done, Avast will be completely uninstalled from your system.
