How to Turn Off Chromecast Entirely

Chromecast devices don’t come with an on-off switch.

There are a couple of ways you’re able to turn off a Chromecast gear.

Disconnect Power

The easiest way to turn off a Chromecast gear is to disconnect the power.

Chromecast devices come with a power port that you plug the wall charger into.

If you unplug the charger from this port, the Chromecast equipment will turn off.

Steps for preventing others from using your Chromecast

you might prevent this by disabling web connection notifications.

Launch theGoogle Home app on your phone.

Scroll to and tap the Chromecast gear you want to disable data pipe notifications for.

Cast in Google Chrome menu

On the rig remote control screen, tap thegearicon in the upper right corner of the screen.

This will fire up the prefs for that Chromecast unit.

Scroll down theDevice settingspage and toggleLet others control your cast mediato off to disable it.

Stop casting in Chrome menu

A couple of examples are theAmazon Prime Videoplayer on mobile, and theHulubrowser-based video player.

Using Google Chrome

Open a newGoogle Chrome online window.

Select thethree dotsin the upper right corner to bring up the internet tool configs, then selectCast.

You should see the Chromecast unit currently casting in blue.

To stop this Chromecast, select it from the list.

If Google Chrome is connected to the Chromecast rig properly, this should stop the Chromecast.

TapSettings>Factory reset equipment.

TapFactory reset deviceagain to confirm.

When prompted to set up Wi-Fi, tap yourWi-Fi networkand enter its password.

Set up the rig again, and choose another online grid when prompted to select a Wi-Fi online grid.
