To connect an Xbox controller to your gear, the process will depend on how old the controller is.

Older controllers require a special USBdongle.

To connect one of these controllers:

Insert the USB dongle into a USB port on your setup.

Turn on your controller by pressing theXboxbutton

Press and release theconnect buttonon the dongle.

Press and hold the connect button on your controller, and release it when the Xbox button stops flashing.

Newer Xbox controllers can connect directly to a PC usingBluetooth.

To do so, take these actions.

Turn on your Xbox One controller by pushing theXboxbutton.

Press theconnect buttonon your controller for three seconds, and then release it.

The connect button is near the USB port on your controller.

On your PC,double-check Bluetooth is on, and then select theBluetoothicon in the taskbar.

In some versions of Windows, you’ll click theNetwork,Sound, orBatteryicons.

If you don’t see this option, choose theBluetoothmenu and selectManage Bluetooth Devices.

Select your controller, and it will pair with your PC.
