initiate the conversation you want to send a voice message in, or start a new one.

In iOS 16, tap theAppsicon below the text box.

The message will automatically start recording, and the text box will have a red recording bar in it.

In iOS 16, you may need to choose the microphone icon to the right of the message field.

Record your message, and then selectStopto end the recording.

TapSendto share the audio message.

Alternatively, tapPlayto preview it, andXto cancel.

Open Voice Memos on your iPhone and tap (dont hold) the redRecordbutton at the bottom.

Youll see the duration of the recording as you speak.

When you finish with your message, tap the redStopbutton.

The recording pops to the top section of the screen.

To share, tap thethree dotsnext to the name of the recording.

Choose a sharing option from the Share Sheet.
