In either scenario, the Powerwash feature can be used to return Chrome OS to its original condition.
kick off the Chrome surfing app.

When the drop-down menu appears, selectSettings.
Chromes prefs interface should now be displayed.
Scroll to the bottom and clickAdvanced.

Chromes Advanced prefs appear.
Scroll down again until you locate theReset settingssection and select thePowerwashoption.
A dialog labeledRestart your deviceshould be displayed, overlaying the configs interface.

Your Chromebook will now be restarted and the Powerwash process will complete.
Your Chromebook will be restarted.
After returning to the login screen, a new version of this window should be displayed.
The Confirm Powerwash dialog will now appear.
Turn off the Chromebook.
While pressing and holdingRefresh, continually pressPoweruntil the Chromebook starts back up.
ReleaseRefreshto complete the hard reset.
