It was the only way for anyone with an old Mac to upgrade to newer Mac operating systems.
Once the Snow Leopard DVD mounts on the desktop, theMac OS X Install DVDwindow opens.
If it doesn’t, double-click theDVDicon on the desktop.
In theMac OS X Install DVDwindow, double-click theInstall Mac OS Xicon.
TheInstall Mac OS Xwindow opens and presents you with two options.
you might continue with a standard upgrade installation, or use the utilities included on the install DVD.
Make your selection and poke the right arrow key.
TheInstall Mac OS Xscreen displays.
In the Apple menu bar, selectUtlities>Disk Utilities.
SelectFormat a hard drive.
Be sure to back up all of your data first.
When you finish using Disk Utility, selectQuitfrom the Disk Utility menu.
You are returned to the Snow Leopard Installer to continue the installation.
Complete the Snow Leopard Installation
To complete the installation, follow theSnow Leopard basic install instructions.
To dive into the store, you might need to upgrade your system software.
SelectSoftware Updatefrom the Apple menu.
