Other people pack the Contacts app with tons of contact information.

The Contacts app is straightforward, although some of its features are less well known than others.

Information in this article applies to the Contacts app on iPhones running iOS 8 through iOS 12.

The Contacts app that is built into iOS contains the same information as the Contacts icon inside thePhone app.

Any change you make to a contact in either place appears in both locations.

To add contacts using the Contacts icon in the Phone app, adhere to these instructions.

To add the information directly in the Contacts app, open that app and skip to Step 3.

Tap thePhoneapp to launch it.

Tap theContactsicon at the bottom of the screen.

Tap each field where you want to add information, beginning with first and last names.

When you do, the keyboard appears at the bottom of the screen.

Scroll through the additional fields and add any information you have on the person.

Having these photos makes using your iPhone a more visual and pleasing experience.

Find the name of the contact you want to add a photo to and tap it.

If you’re adding a photo to an existing contact, tapEditin the top right corner.

TapAdd Photoin the circle in the top left corner (orEditif you’re replacing an existing photo).

If you tappedTake Photo, the iPhone’s camera appears.

Position the image in the circle on the screen.

Searching for a contact to edit on iPhone

you might move the image and pinch and zoom it to make it smaller or larger.

What you see in the circle is the image assigned to the contact.

When you have the image where you want it, tapUse Photo.

If you selectChoose Photo, your Photos app opens.

Find the image you want to use and tap it.

Position the image in the circle.

you could pinch and zoom to make it smaller or larger.

When you’re ready, tapChoose.

Browse your contacts or enter a name in the search bar at the top of the screen.

If you don’t see the search bar, pull down from the middle of the screen.

Tap the contact you want to edit.

Tap theEditbutton in the top right corner.

Tap the field(s) you want to change and then make the change.

When you’re done editing, tapDoneat the top of the screen.

Todelete a contactentirely, scroll to the bottom of the edit screen and tapDelete Contact.

TapDelete Contactagain to confirm the deletion.
