Instructions apply to the surfing app version of Gmail on any desktop.
Select theSettingsgear from your Gmail Inbox.
Next toAuto-advance, selectEnable.
You’re taken back to the Gmail inbox screen.
SelectSettings>See all settingsagain.
Then, under theGeneraltab, scroll down to theAuto-advanceheading.
The Auto-advance section only appears under the General tab after you’ve enabled Auto-advance.
Auto-advance is now on and ready to use.
