This works well for short pieces of text.

Position thecursorwhere you want to insert the document.

In theTextgroup, select theObjectdrop-down arrow.

Insert tab in Word

In theInsert Filedialog box, select a document file.

The document is inserted, beginning at the cursor location.

Place the cursor where you want to insert the text.

SelectInsert>Object>Text from File.

In theSet Rangedialog box, enter thebookmark namefrom the Word document, or therange of cellsfrom the Excel worksheet.

In theInsert Filedialog box, selectInsert.

Text from File

The portion of the document is inserted, beginning at the cursor location.

Position the cursor where you want to insert the link to the document.

In theObjectdialog box, go to theCreate from Filetab, then selectBrowse.

In theBrowsedialog box, choose the file to insert, then selectInsert.

This checks the original and updates the inserted text with the changes made to the original.

Only linked text can be updated.
