Most modern batteries have automatic shutoffs when they’re completely charged.

Cool down your laptop.

Run a built-in troubleshooter to have Windows attempt to fix the problem.

In Windows 10, do this throughSettings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot>Power>trigger the troubleshooter.

Windows 11 troubleshooter’s are inSettings>System>Troubleshoot>Other troubleshooters.

Check the battery’s gear status in gear Manager.

Update the batterys gadget driversto scrub the fault signal.

One way to do this is through unit Manager.

From theBatteriessection, right-click your laptops battery name and selectUpdate driver.

Another method is to use adriver updater tool.

verify to reboot your laptop after installing any new drivers to verify theyre fully installed and functioning properly.

Then, place the battery back in, reconnect the charging cable, and then power on your laptop.

Uninstall the battery from machine Manager and have Windows automatically reinstall it.

This is possible through gadget Manager.

Once you find the battery, right-click it and chooseUninstall equipment.

Then, reboot your gear to have Windows reinstall it.

Reset BIOSand then start up your laptop as usual.

If the battery issue is resulting from faulty BIOS prefs, returning them to their defaults should fix it.

Use HP Support Assistant.

If you own an HP laptop, you should have a program called HP Support Assistant pre-installed.

Open it and chooseTroubleshootto perform a battery test.

This may detect why exactly your battery isn’t being detected and can provide you with specific solutions.

Otherwise,reset the SMC(System Management Controller).

If the battery still won’t charge, you may need to get a replacement.

If yourlaptop isn’t charging, it could be having trouble detecting the charger.

If that doesn’t help, you may need toreinstall or modernize your drivers.
