What Are SteamIDs For?

SteamIDs identify individual users on Steam.

If you have created a custom Steam URL, this option won’t work.

You will need to use a lookup tool.

Open your Steam client and sign on.

These tools can obtain a SteamID from a custom Steam URL or the username from a custom Steam URL.

Most of these tools also allow you to enter a SteamID to obtain theSteamID3 and SteamID64associated with that account.

Here’s how to find a SteamID using a lookup tool:

Open yourweb browserand navigate tosteamidfinder.com.

This website is not operated by Valve, but Valve does recommend it.

Enter the username you use for your custom Steam URL into the text field and select Get SteamID.

it’s possible for you to also drop your entire custom URL.

Examine the results to determine your SteamID.

This tool provides your ID in three different forms.

TheSteamID64is the one you will need most often, but some situations will require you to know yourSteamIDorSteamID3instead.

Valve makes these games, and Valve makes Steam, so user names often overlap.

If you’re looking for the SteamID of someone you played with previously, this method will not work.

Games that work include Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, and Half-Life.

Press the~(tilde) key to kick off the console.

Locate the player you are interested in, and you will find their SteamID in the console window.
