Here’s how to use it:
Plug in your machine.
Don’t reset your machine while it’s running on the battery.
Select theStartbutton, then selectSettings.

SelectSystemin the side panel, then selectRecovery.
The next window provides two options:
For a full factory reset, selectRemove everything.
Either option will remove any apps you’ve installed and return options you’ve changed to their defaults.

Choose how you want to reinstall Windows, and then clickNext.
Continue following the instructions to reset your PC.
This process will take a few minutes.

Here’s the simplest way.
Plug in your rig.
it’s possible for you to’t reset it if it’s running from the battery.

In the left column, chooseRecovery.
ClickGet StartedunderReset this PC.
Next, it’s possible for you to change some options about how thorough the reset will be.

The standard option isJust remove your files.
If you aren’t keeping the computer, selectChange settingsand turn onData erasurein the next window.
Then, clickConfirmto save.

Running data erasure will take longer, but your information will be safer.
Choose whether to revert to an earlier version of Windows, and then clickReset.
your rig will erase the data you selected, reinstall Windows, and then restart.

This process will take a few minutes.
power cycle your system and hold downF11orShifton your keyboard until theChoose an Optionscreen appears.
HP recommends local install unless your machine has a virus.

On the next screen, decide what to do with the stuff you currently have on your rig.
ChooseRemove everythingif you’re not keeping the computer.
If you chooseKeep my files, your gear will delete and reinstall Windows.

But if you pickRemove everything, you’ll have a few more decisions to make.
First, choose which drives to delete.
Your choices areOnly the drive where Windows is installedandAll drives.

The second option is more thorough and secure, but the process will take longer.
Finally, clickResetto start restoring your laptop.
This option works for Windows 8 and 7.

Search forHP Recovery Managerunder theStartmenu, and open it.
In Recovery Manager, you have a couple options available, both under theHelpmenu.
Choose the option you want, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
