How to Disable WPS
The procedure to disable WPS differs by theroutermanufacturer.
Apple Airport
WPS is not available for Apple Airport devices, so you should be protected.
ASUS
Open a web online window, then type192.168.1.1in the address bar.
Enter the administrator username and password (the default username isadmin, and the default password isadmin).
SelectAdvanced tweaks>Wireless.
Move theEnable WPStoggle switch to theoffposition.
SelectLoginin the upper-right corner.
Enter the router password (the default is to leave this field blank), then clickSubmit.
SelectWi-Fi Protected Setupunder theWirelessmenu on the left side of the screen.
Change theWi-Fi Protected Setupdrop-down list option toDisabled.
Buffalo
Buffalo routers are not affected by the WPS problem.
SelectWireless>Wi-Fi Protected Setupfrom the menu.
SelectSaveto apply your parameters.
D-Link
Open a web app and type192.168.1.1into the address bar.
jump in to the setup (the default username isadmin, leave the password empty).
Clear theEnable in Wi-Fi Protected Setupcheck box.
Linksys
In theory,Linksysrouters are no longer affected by this problem.
Netgear
Open a net internet ride and typewww.routerlogin.netinto the address bar.
Enter the username and password (the default username isadmin,and the default password ispassword).
SelectAdvanced Setup, then chooseWireless controls.
UnderWPS tweaks, select theDisable Router’s Pincheck box.
Trendnet
Open abrowserand type192.168.10.1into the address bar.
sign in to the router controls page (the default username isadmin,and the default password isadmin).
Change theWPSdrop-down list option toDisable.
ZyXEL
Open a online window and type192.168.0.1into the address bar.
jump in to the router options (the default username isadmin, and the default password is1234).
go for the blue button to disable WPS.
How Does WPS Work?
This way, you don’t have to do any technical configuration.
If a gadget doesn’t have a WPS button, the router can be set up with a PIN.
The PIN is an eight-digit number and is easily hacked.
For a human, hacking an eight-digit number takes some time.
There aren’t any difficult command-line options to enter.
