You’ll need a compatible Amazon gadget to set this up.

However, you’ve got the option to currently only control SmartThings devices at a single location.

If you have not yet done so,set up your Amazon Echoor another Alexa-enabled equipment.

Downloadingthe Alexa appwill also help you set up the connection and control your SmartThings products.

You should also download theSmartThings mobile appand create an account.

Finally, turn on Smart Home Skills in the Alexa app.

TapDevicesin the bottom right corner of the Amazon Alexa app.

TapYour Smart Home Skillson the Devices screen.

TapEnable Smart Home Skills.

The Smart Home screen will appear with a list of skills.

launch the Amazon Alexa app.

Go toSettingsand tapConnected Home.

TapLink with SmartThingsunder the rig Links.

slide in your SmartThings account details and tapLog In.

grab the location of your SmartThings gadget from the dropdown menu.

SmartThings devices will appear in My unit List.

choose the checkboxes for the objects you want to access through Alexa.

The parameters page of Connected Home will open.

Alternatively, it’s possible for you to say, “Alexa, discover new devices.”

Wait while Alexa discovers your SmartThings devices.

To do so, you will need to use the SmartThings mobile app.

initiate the SmartThings app.

TapMenu>SmartApps>Amazon Echo.

Check the devices Alexa has access to inMyDeviceList.

The app will notify you if any further steps are required.

SmartThings Routines

Routinesallow you to run multiple tasks using just one command.

Create Routines in the SmartThings App

Tap theMenubutton.

TapSettings>Connected Services>Amazon Alexa.

Toggle the switch forRoutinestoOnand tapNext.

Say, “Alexa, discover new devices” for Alexa to recognize the new routine.

Create Routines in the SmartThings Classic App

launch the SmartThings Classic App.

To use a routine, tell Alexa to turn it on.

For example, “Alexa, turn on I’m Back.”

Alexa will say, “OK,” and initiate the routine.

If you have set Alexa to Brief Mode, she may not say “Okay.”
