Open Excel to your current worksheet
grab the cells you want to format.
On theHometab, selectIncrease DecimalorDecrease Decimalto show more or fewer digits after the decimal point.
Each selection or click adds or removes a decimal place.
Your new decimal places setting is now in effect.
In theDecimal placesbox, enter the number of decimal places you want to display.
(In older versions of Excel, select theMicrosoft Office Button>Excel Options.)
In theAdvancedcategory, underEditing options, select theAutomatically insert a decimal pointcheckbox.
TheFixed decimalindicator appears in the status bar.
On the worksheet, click a cell, and then pop in the number that you want.
The change doesn’t affect any data entered before you select a fixed decimal.
After that, grab the drop-down menu under Number Formatting and selectFraction.
