Two kinds of names are related to sending mail.
The one you’re free to change is the name that appears in the From field.
The other is your email address, which usually can’t be changed.
To change your display name in Gmail:
Select theSettingsgearin the upper-right corner of Gmail.
Select theAccounts and Importtab.
In theSend mail assection, selectedit info.
opt for blank field below your current name, then enter a new name.
Your profile page opens.
Alternatively, bypass your inbox and go directly toprofile.live.com.
put in your new name into theFirst nameandLast namefields.
Enter the CAPTCHA and selectSave.
Select your account underMailbox Listand edit your name in theYour Namefield.
SelectPersonal data, signature, picture.
jot down a new name in theYour namefield.
Choose your email account.
jot down a new name in theDisplay namefield.
