If you’re in the Reading Pane, selectPop Outto fire up the message in a separate window.

(If you’re not working in the Reading Pane, you don’t have to do this.)

In the message window, select theFormat Texttab.

In theFormatgroup, select eitherHTMLorPlain Text, depending on which format you want to use, and then clickContinue.

(RTF is also an option.)

Your message will be sent in the format you selected.

Change Email Format for One New Message

Create a new message.

If you’re working in the Reading Pane, selectPop Out.

In the message window, chooseFormat Text, and then selectHTML,Plain Text, orRich Text.

In theOutlook Optionsdialog box, selectMail.

SelectOKto close theOutlook Optionsdialog box.

Your new default format is set.

SelectSettings, which appears as a gear or cog icon.

In theSettingsmenu, selectView all Outlook configs.

In theSettingsdialog box, selectMail.

Select theCompose messages indropdown arrow and chooseHTMLorPlain Text.
