Here are the steps for doing this on the most popular router brands.
Making the DNS server change on your router instead of on your devices is almost always a better idea.
Sign in to your router’s web-based administration, usually at the following address:
SelectSetupin the top menu.

Belkin International, Inc.
In theStatic DNS 1field, enter the primary DNS server you want to use.
you should probably enter at least one DNS address.
In theStatic DNS 2field, enter the secondary DNS server you want to use.

NETGEAR
Leave theStatic DNS 3field blank or add a primary DNS server from another provider.
SelectApplyat the bottom of the screen.
See thisLinksys default password listif 192.168.1.1 doesn’t work for you.

D-Link
Not all Linksys routers use this address.
Linksys makes small changes to its administration page every time the company releases a new series of routers.
If you don’t have those two tabs along the top, chooseBasic parameters.

ASUS
Choose theUse These DNS Serversoption in theDomain Name Server (DNS) Addresssection.
In thePrimary DNSfield, enter the primary DNS server you want to use.
In theSecondary DNSfield, enter the secondary DNS server you want to use.

TP-LINK Technologies
SelectApplyto save the DNS server changes you just entered.
SelectSetupat the top of the page.
In theSecondary DNS Addressfield, enter the secondary DNS server you want to use.
Cisco
Choose theSave Settingsbutton at the top of the page.
While you could access most D-Link routers via 192.168.0.1, a few models use a different default.
Choose theInternet Connectiontab at the top of the page.
TRENDnet
In theWAN DNS Settingsection, enter the primary DNS server you want to use in theDNS Server1text box.
Enter the secondary DNS server you want to use in theDNS Server2text box if desired.
you gotta enter at least one DNS address.
Belkin International, Inc.
Save the changes with theApplybutton at the bottom of the page.
You may need to restart the router after applying the changes.
You should be able to pull up the configuration page for most Asus routers with the 192.168.1.1 address.
Buffalo Americas, Inc.
If you never changed your sign-in information, useadminfor both the username and the password.
The software on every Asus router isn’t the same.
Select theUse These DNS Serverscheck box.

Enter the DNS server you want to use.
Choose theSavebutton at the bottom of the page to save the changes.
One of the two IP addresses used in this tutorial should work for most TP-LINK routers.
If not, search for your specific model on the TP-LINK support page.
Select theLan Setuptab from the menu that’s just below theSetupoption.
In theLAN 1 Static DNS 1field, enter the primary DNS server you want to use.
In theLAN 1 Static DNS 2field, enter the secondary DNS server you want to use if desired.
Some Cisco routers may have aLAN 1 Static DNS 3field.
you’re free to leave it blank or enter another DNS server.
Save the changes using theSave Settingsbutton at the bottom of the page.
On some Cisco routers, you may need to restart the router to apply the changes.

These steps are different for your router if you have a co-branded Cisco-Linksys router.
Sign in to your router at this address:
ChooseAdvancedat the top of the page.
Select theSetupmenu to the left.
Select theInternet settingssubmenu under theSetupmenu.
Choose theEnableoption next toManually configure DNS.
Next to thePrimary DNSbox, enter the primary DNS server you want to use.
Use theSecondary DNSfield if there is a secondary DNS server you want to use.
Save the tweaks with theApplybutton.
If you’re told to reboot the router, follow the instructions on the screen.
Not all TRENDnet models require this.
These instructions should work for most TRENDnet routers.
Sign in to your router through this address:
SelectDDNSunderAdvanced tweaks>Firewall.
In theDNS Addressfield, enter the primary DNS server you want to use.
In theSecondary DNS Addressfield, enter the secondary DNS server if you’d like to use one.
SelectApply Changesto save the changes.
You might be told to restart the router for the changes to take effect.
If so, follow the on-screen prompts.
Sign in to your Buffalo router at this address:
Select theAdvancedtab at the top of the page.
ChooseWAN Configon the left side of the page.
Next to thePrimaryfield in theAdvanced Settingssection, enter the primary DNS server you want to use.
Next to theSecondaryfield, bang out the secondary DNS server you want to use.
Near the bottom of the page, chooseApplyto save the changes.
pop launch the Google Home app on your mobile gear.
You must use the accompanying mobile app.
SelectWi-Fifrom the primary screen.
In thePrimary servertext field, enter the DNS server you want to use.
ForSecondary server, enter an optional secondary DNS server.
SelectOKto save, and then press the save icon at the top of the DNS controls page.
