How Do I Change a data pipe Name in Windows 11?
Windows assigns a name to each web link by default: Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.
It’s the method we suggest using since it’s by far the easiest to understand.

Open prefs, either by searching for it from the search bar or using the keyboard shortcutWIN+i.
SelectNetwork & internetfrom the menu on the left, and thenAdvanced connection settingsfrom the right side.
Choose the web connection name you want to change, and then selectRename.

Enter a new name in the box, and then selectSave.
Go toNetwork and Internet>online grid Sharing Center.
SelectChange adapter settingsfrom the left side.

Right-hit the internet name you want to change, and selectRename.
Edit the web link name and pressEnterto save it.
This third method is the more complicated and dangerous way to change the web connection name in Windows 11.

You’re encouraged toback up the registrybefore making any changes to the file.
You’ll be thankful later if something goes wrong during these steps.
Navigate to thisregistry key:
Expand the first key to reveal several other keys within it.

Each key listed there corresponds to the different data pipe adapters you have.
Expand one of those keys (it doesn’t matter which one), and then selectConnectionbeneath it.
Just go down the list, unless you already know which key to open.
Look forNameon the right side.
The value under theDatacolumn identifies the current internet name.
Double-clickName, and edit the text so that it reflects whatever you want the new name to be.
The change should take effect immediately, but if not, exit of your account or reboot your machine.
Why Would You Rename a connection?
Depending on the software you have installed, Windows 11 might have a list of several networks.
The default web link names are sometimes helpful, but renaming them makes identification easier when they’re not.
Changing the name of a connection doesn’t do anything except change the way you see it.
Seethis guide on changing the Wi-Fi name (SSID) on your routerif you need help.
Alternatively, use afree Wi-Fi analyzer appto monitor your connected devices and the overall security of your internet.
