Here’s how to create a watermark using Inkscape version 0.92.4 for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Your watermark should be large enough to be obvious yet transparent enough for your art to be visible.

SelectLayer>Add Layer.

Open the image that you want to add a watermark to in Inkscape.

Placing the watermark on a separatelayermakes it easier for you to move or alter later.

The watermark layer should always be positioned above the image layer.

SelectLayer>Switch to Layer Abovein the menu to move layers up.

SelectAddto create the new layer.

Select theTexttool, then punch the image and pop in your watermark or copyright information.

you could change the font and size using the controls in the top toolbar.

Select Add to create the new layer.

The color of the text can be changed using the swatches at the bottom of the window.

To key in a symbol on Windows, pressCtrl+Alt+C.

If that doesn’t work and you have a number pad on your keyboard, hold theAltkey and type0169.

On Mac, typeOption+G.

Click theSelecttool, then grab the watermark text.

Go toObject>Fill and Stroke.

Once satisfied, you’re able to save the file andexport the image in various formatsincludingPNG.
