Create a Desktop Shortcut From the Desktop
Right-click a space on your desktop and selectNew>Shortcut.
SelectBrowseto find the item you’re creating the shortcut for.
pick the file or utility, then selectOK.

The location will appear in theType the location of the itemfield.
throw in a name for the shortcut.
SelectFinishto create the desktop shortcut.

In the app list, select and drag any program to your desktop.
Windows creates a shortcut to the software without removing the app from the Start Menu.
Open File Explorer as you normally would, or pressWindows+E.

Navigate toC:/>Program Files.
bring up the folder for the software you want to create a shortcut for.
In this example, we’re creating one for Notepad++.

Find the .exe file for the program.
Here, it’s notepad++.exe.
Right-smack the .exe file and selectSend to>Desktop (create shortcut).

Your shortcut is created and added to your desktop.
PressWindows+Eto open File Explorer.
Right-hit the file or folder name.

Windows creates a shortcut in the same folder as the original file or folder.
Select and drag, or copy and paste, the shortcut to your desktop.
Select theaddress barto reveal the location of the file or folder.

PressCtrl+Cto copy the location to your clipboard.
In the Newsection of the Homeribbon, selectNew Item>Shortcut.
PressCtrl+Vto paste the location in theType the location of the itemfield, then selectNext.

punch in a name for the shortcut, then selectFinish.
Your shortcut is created.
Select and drag the shortcut to your desktop and you’re done.
