To start a conversation with a Facebook friend in Messenger:
Open Messenger.
From theChatsscreen, tap theCompose Messageicon on the top right.
punch in or select a contact’s name.
key in your message in the text at the bottom.
To send your username link:
Open Messenger and tapyour profile picturein the top left corner of the screen.
Scroll down to find your username link.
Tap yourusername linkand then tapShare Linkfrom the list of options that appears.
Select how you want to share your username link (text, email, etc.)
and send it to the person you want to add on Messenger.
The recipient would then tapAdd on Messengerand you will receive a connection request to add them back.
To do this, turn onContact Uploadingin Messenger.
FromChats, tap your profile picture in the top left corner.
TapUpload Contactsto turn on continuous uploading of your mobile contacts.
FromChats, tap the People icon in the bottom menu.
Tap theAdd Peopleicon in the top right of the screen.
When prompted, selectEnter Phone Number.
Enter their phone number and tapSave.
You’ll be shown the corresponding Messenger user listing if Messenger detects one from the phone number you entered.
TapAdd on Messengerto add them.
Open Messenger and tapyour profile picturein the top left corner.
Your user code is represented by the unique blue lines and dots that encircle your profile picture.
Have your friend open Messenger and navigate to thePeopletab.
Have your friend tap theAddicon and then tapScan Code.
They might need to configure their equipment controls to give Messenger permission to get into the camera.
You’ll receive a connection request to add them back.

The only way todeactivate Messengeris todeactivate your Facebook account.
To delete a conversation, tap and hold a conversation >Delete.
Vanish Mode isnt available for group chats.
