It could presumably zoom in and out or trigger shortcuts in non-drawing apps.
Then there’s the squeeze, which replaces the double-tap in the previous Apple Pencil.

Squeeze the barrel, and a new radial menu pops up on the screen.
This is a huge improvement over the old feedback-less double-tap.
The haptics go further.
