Here’s the skinny on how it performed.

When Maingear offered to send me one of the new ML-16 Gaming Laptops, I jumped on it.

It promises a ton of computing power since it’s designed for gaming.

And with a 16-inch screen, I wanted to see how heavy it actually is.

Also, to be transparent, I tested theML-16 RTX 4060.

It’s a 16-inch laptop.

That means it’s got quite a bit of heft to it.

In fact, it’s probably on the lighter side for a 16-inch gaming machine.

One thing that I do think is too heavy is the power brick.

Of course, there are trade-offs for that heft.

without needing to plug it in.

It was completely dead, so it still draws on the battery when not in use.

The other thing I noticed about this machine right out of the gate was the construction.

It’s a sturdy mix of plastic and metal thatfeelsdurable.

The sound is also good.

One thing I’ll mention here is that this laptop gets hot!

especially when it’s plugged in and charging while you’re using it.

It’s hot enough that I couldn’t sit with it on my lap.

I had to use it on a tabletop or lap desk to keep from overheating myself.

There are plenty of ports, too.

That makes it a little more convenient to connect a secondary display or multiple devices.

Is the Maingear ML-16 Gaming Laptop Worth It?

The ML-16 computer lineup starts at $1799.
