In theDetailspop-up screen, make changes to the event
SelectAdd To Calendarto accept the event suggestion with your modifications.
Mail adds a link to the email message in the Calendar entry.
SelectShow in Mailin the expanded Calendar entry to bring up the original email.

Click theAdd invitations to Calendar automaticallycheckbox.
The change is reflected in your Apple Calendar the next time it syncs with the server.
