However, longevity is not a replacement for repairability.
This is where Apple falls down.
But it has not made it any easier for independent repair shops to make repairs.

Say you’ve replaced your iPhone’s screen because you cracked the old one.
Even if it is a legitimate, Apple-made part, it won’t necessarily work properly.
You won’t get the True Tone feature, which balances the screen colors to match the ambient light.

The same goes for batteries.
This is true even if you swap in a part from another iPhone of the exact same model.
This is why regulation is so important.
