One of those shortcuts isDesktop, and it does just what you think.
Press it once to see the desktop instantly.
Expand theTaskbar behaviorssection at the bottom.

Put a check in the box next toSelect the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop.
Look for the button again.
An alternative method is to make a shortcut that, when pressed, will serve the same purpose.

Right-nudge the desktop and go toNew>Shortcut.
Copy this into the text box:
SelectNext.
Name the shortcut whatever you want, and then pressFinish.

Drag the shortcut onto the taskbar.
Or, right-click it and go toShow more options>Pin to taskbar.
