Use prefs to Add Another User

This is the ‘normal’ way to create a new user.

Add a Microsoft or Local Account

OpenSettings.

The quickest way is to pressWIN+i.

‘Accounts’ and ‘Other users’ highlighted in the Windows 11 Settings app.

SelectAccountson the left to open theWindows 11 user account prefs.

ChooseOther usersfrom theAccount settingssection on the right.

You have two options here:

SelectAdd a user without a Microsoft account.

‘Add account’ and ‘I don’t have this person’s sign-in information’ highlighted in the Windows 11 Settings app.

Fill out the boxes with the person’s username and whatever password they want to have.

(you could alwayscreate a Windows passwordlater.)

PressNextto create the user account.

This method requires the person to have a Microsoft account.

Go toSettings>Accounts.

ChooseFamilyon the right side.

The username and password fields highlighted, and the ‘Next’ button highlighted in the Windows 11 Settings app.

Enter the person’s email address into the text box, and then pressNext.

You’re asked if they should be an organizer or a member.

Select one and then chooseInviteto finish up.

This method is also preferred if you’ll be creating several users back to back.

It works for local user accounts only.

Right-smack the Start button and selectComputer Management.

The ‘Add someone’ button, email address text box, and ‘Next’ button highlighted in the Settings app.

Double-clickLocal Users and Groupsto expand it.

throw in the new user’s username.

It’s not required, but you might also fill out the person’s full name and description.

The ‘Member’ role and ‘Invite’ button highlighted in Windows 11 Settings.

If the user should have a password, now is the time to enter it.

SelectCreateto make the new user account.

The new user box will remain open if you want to make additional user accounts.

Otherwise, pressClosewhen you’re finished.

Open theUsersfolder in Computer Management to confirm that it was successful.

It works for Microsoft accounts and local accounts.

pop fire up Run dialog box.

It’s accessible from thePower User Menu(pressWIN+X) or viaWIN+R.

pop in this and then pressOK:

SelectAdd.

Otherwise, pressSign in without a Microsoft account (not recommended)and then complete the steps below.

Enter a username in the first box.

If you also enter a password (it’s not necessary), a password hint is required.

Make User Accounts in Command Prompt

Thenet usercommand creates a new user in the Command Prompt.

Open an elevated Command Prompt.

This command supports lots of advanced options.

PressEnterto make the new user account.

The command has worked if you see a success message.

To confirm, you’re able to enternet userfor a list of all the accounts on the computer.
